The downside to debt settlement programs is that is does show up as a blemish on your credit report and will remain there for the next 7 years or so.  So, you have to really think about this option asa it could impede you from doing some of the things that you might have had planned for yourself financially.  But, just knowing that you do have this option should bode well for you.
